From there, she had the honor of winning the Look of the Year award from bigwig agents, the Elite and Ford modeling agencies, as well as the "Miss Barbizon USA"

Because we have eyes... but more specifically because she was able to successfully fill the artistic and dramatic void left in the wake of Pamela Anderson's departure from Baywatch. She can also be seen in the new series, Sheena, and as host of the USA Network's ground shaking journalistic epic, The 50th Anniversary of the Bikini.
Old-school feminists say that a woman who dyes her hair to Barbie-doll blonde and has balloons full of chemicals stuffed under her skin are examples of a patriarchal society's over-emphasis on cultural ideas of female physical beauty. But bullocks to that!
Silicone and bleach are just like special effects in a movie; just because they're not real, doesn't mean they're not cool to look at. And Gena Lee Nolin is very cool to look at. She is the fantasy of every fourteen-year-old boy and his Dad: tall, blonde, built, and has a predisposition for appearing in tight clothing. Hooray!
A beauty by any other name
Keep in mind that all this success had come before she was allowed to watch an R-rated film. After Gena made all the male teachers at her school very sad by graduating, she went on to Los Angeles to pursue a job in acting and study interior design at Santa Monica College. At first, the only acting job she could find was playing a waitress in local diners -- only there were no cameras or audiences, and she really was a waitress.
In 1993, she made us angry by marrying a man named Greg Falman, whom she met while handing brochures out at a convention. One year later, in 1994, Miss Nolin found destiny in the form of an ad in a local paper, for a job that required being a Barker Beauty, on every unemployable's favorite daytime game show, The Price is Right.
Soon after that, she landed a part on the soap opera, The Young & The Restless, where she stretched her craft to the limit portraying a young blonde model named Sandy.
Next came the break that would change her life forever. Top-heavy (we mean brains, of course) bombshell, Pam Anderson shocked the entertainment industry and horny people everywhere when she announced that she was leaving the show that made her a star, in order to pursue her lead role on V.I.P.
Ready for babewatch
This meant that Baywatch would be looking for a talking bag of bleach and silicone (we mean actress) to fill the slot, and Gena was up to the challenge. Rumor has it that to tell Gena she had won the part, producer/star, David Hasselhoff threw her an inner tube with the words "Surprise! You got the part." written on it -- that wacky bastard.
In 2000, Gena sent shockwaves across the Universe when she decided to leave Baywatch (and just after, her character married David Hasselhoff) to have her own show -- from the very same people who stole Pam Anderson for V.I.P. -- to star in her own series, Sheena.
So, as the country finds itself recovering from its darkest hour, we can always rest assured that when we have nothing to do on a Saturday afternoon, we can turn on the TV and find Gena there, smiling back at us, telling us the world is an okay place to be. And then we can turn down the sound so we don't have to hear the crappy dialogue, take off our pants, lean back, and thank this great nation for moments like these.
